對話

Introduction

In order to safeguard and promote students’ psychological well-being, as well as to assist in addressing issues related to students’ lives, academics, and the establishment of the mentorship system at the university, National Dong Hwa University expanded the original Counseling and Guidance Division under the Office of Student Affairs into an independent first-tier unit during the ‘First University Affairs Meeting of the Second Semester of the Academic Year 2006.’ This expansion led to the establishment of the Psychological Counseling Center, which officially came into operation on August 1, 2007. The center is organized into three divisions: the Prevention and Outreach Division, the Psychological Counseling Division, and the Resource Development Division.

Prospect

At its inception, the primary goal of the Psychological Counseling Center was to create a healthy psychological growth environment on campus. In the mid-term, the focus shifted to integrating campus resources to provide a supportive environment for the holistic development of the mind, body, and spirit of all faculty, staff, and students. In the long term, the goal is to integrate resources from the Hualien region, not only bringing external resources into the university to offer more comprehensive care for faculty and students but also giving back to the community, thereby enhancing the university’s influence in the community.
